Pete Pawlett 1932-2023

Words by Kevin Gingell

It’s with much sadness that I must inform you of the passing earlier today of Pete Pawlett, just 3 days after his 91st birthday. Pete was one of the club’s founder members who not only played for Abbey for decades but made Abbey such a big part of his and his family’s life. His love and support of this club just typifies the generation that put so much into making Abbey what it is today, and we thank you for that. Besides being a fine player and good clubman for so many years I’m sure many will also remember Pete as the Colts manager and their first Abbey coach. So many young men grew up to be much better people due the influence of Pete Pawlett, I’m certainly one of those.

Our thoughts are with his family at such a sad time,

R.I.P Pete
