We are devastated to inform the wider club community of the passing of clubman Nick Barnes yesterday. Barnesy was, the literal heartbeat of our club. A player for many years for the 1XV, in rugby retirement he gave thousands upon thousands of volunteer hours to ensure the safe and competent running of our club and lent his hand to everything from handyman jobs, to assisting the groundsmen team, to flipping burgers at summer events. He has left a huge hole in our hearts and will be sorely missed not just by everyone who knew him, but by all those who benefited from his hard, mostly unseen, work. As a club we send our love, condolences and thoughts to Barnesy’s wife Jane, and his children Sam, Lucy and Jo.

Our flag flies at half mast.
