I would like to thank Abbey for hosting the wonderful memorial lunch for Ian, Pete Pawlett and for the other recently absent friends, it was such a fitting way to remember them. You have done them all proud. THANK YOU.
Abbey has been a huge part of our lives for nearly 50 years. We have made many longstanding friends and have had some wonderful memorable times both during Ian’s playing years and afterwards. We were always assured of a warm welcome and made to feel part of the Abbey family. We and now I are very lucky to have been part of this family. John also reiterated how much Abbey meant to Ian and indeed to him.
My thanks to John for the warm tribute he paid to Ian and for his and Oonagh’s ongoing support. Thanks also to all the friends and neighbours who attended the lunch and for their support.
Ian would have loved the occasion and I’m sure he would have been looking down in his Abbey blazer, pint in hand and a smile on his face.
