Well, here we are approaching what should have been that festive midway point to the season where we have a short break from rugby, eat and drink far too much and spend some quality time partying with family and friends. Well, we all know that this has been a very different, difficult year from what we expected but let’s still try to enjoy the Christmas festivities as best we can and celebrate the news that from 18th December, we should be a bit closer to what we know as Rugby up here at Rosehill. It’s not been an easy year for any of us but if I’m looking for a positive for this 2020/21 season so far, it must be that it’s the first time in our history that we have ever got to the Christmas break without losing a game or conceding a point throughout the whole of the club. On a more serious note, a big thank you to all the managers and coaches who whenever permitted (within government & RFU guidelines) have got our playing members out there training or playing friendly tag matches which has bought a bit of life back into Abbey rugby club on weekday evenings and weekends. Also, a big thankyou to all those other volunteers within the club that have carried on working hard in the background to keep everything going even when everything was locked down. That includes the Friday morning maintenance crew, the grounds team and all other volunteers throughout the year who come up and give a bit back. With hope that we now have the inoculations to really fight this pandemic let’s hope that 2021 sees an end to Covid19 and a return to as close to normality as possible.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas & a happy new year
